A name missing from local motor sport for many years makes a comeback for the upcoming Kyalami 9 Hour endurance race and the Porsche 911 GTR 3 of Team Perfect Circle will have Coca-Cola emblazoned on the car – harking back to the 1969 Porsche 917 campaigned by the team of the same name, which was driven by David Piper and Dickie Attwood.
Team Perfect Circle is one of the few South African crews that will be competing in the event, taking place on November 21-23 and which is the final round of the 2019 Intercontinental GT Challenge series for road-based sports cars.
Top local amateur drivers, André Bezuidenhout, Franco Scribante, Silvio Scribante and Dino Scribante will be aiming to upset the form book in this prestigious international event.
No motor sport team can thrive without decent backing and in addition to the beverage maker, Motul is on boardas the team’s preferred supplier of lubricants and a company deeply involved in world motor sport.
Further high-level support comes from Everysun a household name in sun protection for outdoor sport lovers.
Team Perfect Circle will be competing in a Porsche 911 GT3 R, and Porsche Motorsport has been instrumental in providing equipment and parts to ensure the local drivers will be ready to compete at full strength in the 9 Hour.
Liveried in the colours of the major supporters, the Porsche 911 GT3 R will be run by the professional racing outfit of Simpson Motorsport. This British team has a wealth of experience in the field of endurance racing and is already preparing the Team Perfect Circle race car, they will also be in charge of running the car during the race weekend at Kyalami.
Local and international team members will be hosted by another strong supporter of the team, The Capital Hotel & Apartments Group who will provide accommodation to the team at its prestige hotel accommodation in Sandton.
Said Jonny Westbrook, the Team Manager (whose father was a team technician at the 9-hour events more than 40 years ago):
“It is impossible to compete in any form of motor racing without support. Team Perfect Circle is extremely fortunate to have many supporters who have made this dream of racing at the Kyalami 9 Hour a reality. I speak on behalf of all the drivers and the team when I extend my gratitude to Coca-Cola and all our corporate supporters who see the potential in our team, and we hope to reward them with silverware on November 23.”
