Having achieved an overall average fuel consumption of 4,8 l/100 km on the recent WesBank Fuel Economy Tour, the credentials of the Renault Kwid as a fuel-sipper are clearly established and its acceptance in the market with 27 700 cars sold since the 2016 launch is not a trifling number.
Now comes the revised version that aims to please with significantly more specification to go with the the already standard 8-inch Touchscreen MediaNav with Bluetooth, USB, AUX and MP3 playback. It now gains the added convenience of Reverse Camera, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, front and rear powered windows, electrical adjustable door mirrors, air-conditioner and remote central locking.
There is increased safety with dual front crash bags, anti-lock brakes and improved road holding thanks to the new 14-inch wheels and revised rear axle.
The New Renault Kwid has a more muscular and tough exterior, SUV styled headlamps with silver streak LED DRL’s and tail lamps with LED light guides.
Inside, it gains new chrome finishes and new upholstery fabrics along with a new centre fascia and meter cluster with sportier graphics.
The compact 1,0-litre 3-cylinder Smart Control efficiency (SCe) engine powering the Kwid models has been optimised for power and performance and pushes out peak power of 50 kW at 5 500 r/min and maximum torque of 91 Nm at 4 250 r/min and is driven through a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
The New Renault Kwid model range comes standard with a 1 Year Comprehensive Insurance Cover, a 2 Year Service Plan, and a 5-year/150 000 km mechanical warranty and a 6-year anti-corrosion warranty. Services take place at15 000 km intervals.
