Colin-on-Cars – Motor show with a difference

Motoring is such an integral part of our lives, for many the last journey they take on this earth will be in a vehicle and, while it is hard to view it that way, the funeral industry is worth around R10-billion a year in South Africa.

This is why Funerex Africa, which is gearing up to become a premier event for the funeral industry on the continent, will be held at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg from October 12 to 13.

Funerex Africa is a fresh new take on the traditional expos for the industry in the past, incorporating a trade expo for the funeral industry together with a tailored motoring experience.

“It is all systems go with covid-19 measures fully incorporated into our planning,” says Rachel Stead, Funerex Africa Event Director and Managing Director of FuneralCar. “Our inaugural event this year is set to attract an estimated 100 exhibitors, as well as numerous industry professionals who will participate in the various elements of the event such as workshops which will specifically be targeted at addressing high priority opportunities and challenges.”

Funerex Africa, which provides a comprehensive Trade Expo and Motoring Experience for Funeral Professionals, is a unique event in that it provides not only a comprehensive platform for much needed networking opportunities for Funeral Directors as well as ensuring access to popular and innovative supplies and solutions to the industry, but also an extensive and tailored motoring experience.

“As we grow this event, we would like to draw as many funeral industry representatives from key markets on our continent.”

Stead believes it is vital for the funeral industry and their suppliers to have access to a consolidated and comprehensive platform to more effectively position and connect the sector.

“This is particularly relevant considering that Stats SA estimates that the funeral industry in South Africa currently generates a revenue of around R10 billion per annum. Additionally, the funeral insurance industry is worth an estimated R7 billion per annum.”

A major highlight at Funerex Africa will be ‘OnTrack with FuneralCar’ – a tailored and extensive motoring experience facilitated by FuneralCar. This will incorporate a high speed driving experience on the Grand Prix Track, off-road driving, skidpan and handling track activities, convoy driving, a formation driving competition for funeral parlours, super cars and the showcasing of the latest hearse designs.

One visitor to Funerex Africa will Win a Hearse to add to their fleet!

“Additionally, we will also be revisiting our attempt at achieving the Guinness World Record for the longest parade of hearses and are confident we will achieve it this time around.”

Funerex Africa is specifically targeted at the funeral industry and is not open to attendance from the general public.
