Two new models have been added to the JAC Motors 3-tonne entry-level N-Series truck, N56 2,8-litre turbo-diesel Chassis Cab and Dropside.
“Our N56 offers the best value for money in its category. It has been designed with the changing needs of small- and medium enterprises in mind and reflects our product values of reliability, functionality and low operating costs,” says Karl-Heinz Göbel, CEO of JAC Motors South Africa.

The 2,8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, develops 80 kW at 3 600 r/min and 240 Nm of torque between 1 800 r/min and 2 000 r/min. The Euro 2 engine pairs with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The N56 features an exhaust brake system for maximum braking efficiency and its powertrain design ensures peak torque is delivered at low rpm, reducing the need for frequent gear shifting, resulting in better fuel consumption. Its average sub-urban fuel consumption is 8,5 l/100 km, and average combined-cycle fuel consumption is 10,0 l/100 km.
“Almost 3-million N56 trucks have been sold globally. Fleet operators are especially impressed with the performance, fuel efficiency and everyday functionality of our rugged 3-tonne truck,” says Göbel.
Robust chassis design for easy loading and manoeuvrability.
The N56 has the N-Series’ new heavy-duty ladder-frame chassis stamping and welding treatment process, making it robust for many different body applications. The main advantage of a rugged but flexible and lightweight chassis frame is the optimum axle weight distribution that enhances safety.
The front and rear leaf-spring suspension provides improved stability and less chassis roll in all load states and on any road surface.
The short wheelbase design and precise steering of the hydraulic assisted power steering make it easy to manoeuvre the N56 in heavy inner-city traffic and on small construction sites. The N56 supports a wheelbase of 3 360 mm, a turning radius of only seven metres and a ground clearance of 190 mm.

The N56 offers a payload of 3 020 kg. Its overall dimensions are 5 995 mm x 1 900 mm x 2 330 mm with a large load area measuring 4 230 mm x 1 790 mm x 400 mm.
It has a forward-tilting cab that provides a wide tilt angle for easy access to the engine bay. The ergonomically designed driver-friendly cab offers maximum driver comfort and convenience to increase driver productivity and boasts an adjustable driver seat and wide steering wheel, which is fully rake-and-reach adjustable, power windows, air-conditioning and a radio/MP3 player with Bluetooth functionality as standard.

The N56 features hydraulic brakes and comes standard with anti-lock braking.
It comes standard with a 5-year/150 000-kilometre manufacturer warranty, including a 5-year/60 000-kilometre service plan. Scheduled service intervals are every 10 000 km.

The N-Series was recently extended with the global launch of JAC Motors’ new N55 EV 3-tonne electric truck.
“We are extremely excited about the upcoming launch of the N55 EV later this year. Together with local- and international product launches, the new N55 will elevate the JAC Motors brand to new heights in South Africa,” adds Göbel.
